Member of the editorial boards of the international scientific journals "Business Strategy and the Environment" (since 1998), "Eco-Management and Auditing" (since 1998) respectively the relaunched journal "Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management" (since 2001), "Greener Management International" (since 2002), "Progress in Industrial Ecology" (since 2004), "International Journal of Business Environment" (since 2005), "Society and Economy" (since 2009), Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal (SAMPJ) (since 2009) and Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal (since 2011) and member of the International Advisory Board of "Social and Environmental Accounting Journal" (since December 2006) and "Issues in Social and Environmental Accounting" (since 2007).
Chairman of the scientific board of Sarasin & Cie., Basel, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Environmental Management Accounting Network (EMAN), member of several sustainability boards, served as member of national research programmes of the Swiss National Science Foundation and the German Federal Ministry for Science and Education.

Awards:
